Alftavatn

Next plan was to drive the closer back road of Katla. There was few fords, waterfall and the green mounting in black sand with Myrdalsjökul glacier as a backround.

At the green mountain, there was an english pair with a selfmade expedition car. It was built from components to a Range Rover chassis(or something). It had Japanese technical part like axles and differentials. Outside kitchen and a penthouse sleepin room.

some riding on lava and when turning to Alftavatn there was a suspicious looking ford, but there was no big rocks as it seemed it might have. Below is a video of some water crossings on the road.

On Alftavatn I made a short walk to a hill, where you could see the three volcanos surrounding Thorsmörk. Here is shots from Alftavatn

And here is one shot where left glacier is Eyjafjälljökull and right glacier is Tindafjälljökull(hmm I guess).
